The French striker signed for the west London side from Arsenal in the January transfer window after he was deemed to be surplus to requirements at The Emirates by Arsene Wenger.
Giroud will be hoping to win a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge between now and the end of the season as he looks to earn a place in the France squad for this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
The experienced forward started for Chelsea FC and set up Eden Hazard’s opening goal in their 3-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
Now, Conte is hoping to see the 31-year-old apply himself and get used to the way things are done at his new club.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Monday night at Stamford Bridge, Conte said: “He’s coming from a muscular problem and for us it’s very important for him to go into our idea of football and understand the right positions, for example the first goal [against West Brom] was a clear example of our idea.”
Chelsea FC are now preparing for their home FA Cup fifth-round clash against Hull City at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.
The Blues are aiming to go one step further this season after having reached the final and being beaten by Arsenal last year.
