Andreas Christensen sends honest message to Chelsea FC fans after FC Barcelona draw
Andreas Christensen reflects on his costly error in Chelsea FC's 1-1 draw with FC Barcelona on Tuesday night
Andreas Christensen has broken his silence about his high-profile error in Chelsea FC’s 1-1 draw with FC Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Danish defender came in for criticism for playing a loose pass across the Chelsea FC box as the visitors capitalised and Lionel Messi drilled home an equaliser in the second half after Willian’s opener.
Christensen has been one of the west London side’s most consistent performers this season but his error put him in the spotlight for the wrong reasons in midweek.
Now, the 21-year-old has admitted that he made a mistake with the pass as he reflected on the game.
Speaking in an interview with TV3 Sport, Christensen said: “I had done all the hard work and kept the ball in play, but then I made a very bad decision, I should have kicked it out
“As a centre-back, you get punished by your mistakes, however, it’s the position that I’ve chosen to play, so I won’t be dwelling too much on it and let it get to me.
“I know I made a mistake, but there is not much else to do than to learn from it and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
Christensen will be hoping to put things right with a solid defensive performance when Chelsea FC travel to Manchester United for their crunch Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues head into the game looking for the three points as they bid to keep their hopes of finishing in the top four this season alive.
Chelsea FC are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table this season as they chase Champions League qualification under Antonio Conte in his second campaign in charge at the club.
