Frank Lampard: What I really think of Andreas Christensen at Chelsea FC
Frank Lampard talks up the importance of Andreas Christensen for Chelsea FC
Frank Lampard believes that Andreas Christensen will play a crucial role for Chelsea FC between now and the end of the season.
The Danish defender has been in impressive form for the west London side this season after having quickly won the trust of Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.
Christensen returned from a two-year loan spell with German side Borussia Monchengladbach last summer and he has been in fine form since then.
Conte has turned to the defender as one of the first names on his team-sheet this season, with Christensen having made 20 Premier League appearances for the Blues so far this term.
And Chelsea FC legend Lampard believes that the 21-year-old has a very bright future with the west London club.
Speaking in an interview with the Evening Standard, former midfielder Lampard said: “Chelsea have signed him to a long-term contract so you can put whatever figure you want on it. But they are never going to sell him. He is not going anywhere.
“It’s very important that he’s back fit again for these big games because he is a key player and this is crunch time of the season.”
Christensen will be hoping to start for Chelsea FC when the Blues return to Champions League action on Tuesday night with a crunch clash against FC Barcelona at Stamford Bridge.
The west London side head into that game on the back of their impressive 4-0 win over Hull City in the fifth round of the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.
