Owen Hargreaves has suggested that Chelsea FC should focus their attentions on winning the FA Cup this season because beating FC Barcelona in the Champions League will be incredibly difficult.

The Blues are preparing to host the Spanish giants at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of their last 16 clash on Tuesday night as they look to try and claim a famous victory.

Chelsea FC are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table and have been knocked out of the League Cup, meaning that the FA Cup and Champions League are their last two realistic hopes of silverware this season.

The west London side reached the FA Cup final last season but were beaten by Arsenal, so Antonio Conte will be keen for his team to go one step further this term.

And former Manchester United midfielder Hargreaves reckons that the west London side should concentrate on trying to win the FA Cup this term as their hopes of beating FC Barcelona over two legs are looking slim.

Speaking to BT Sport, Hargreaves said: “The FA Cup is the most important cup for them. Winning against Barcelona over two legs is going to be difficult.

“If Conte can win the league last season and win the FA Cup this season, I think it would be a great achievement.”

Chelsea FC are currently fourth in the table after having won the title in style in Conte’s first campaign in charge at the club last season.
