Gary Lineker hails ‘excellent’ Chelsea FC star in 2-1 loss to Man United
Gary Lineker was impressed by Willian's performance in Chelsea FC's clash with Manchester United on Sunday
Gary Lineker praised Willian for his “excellent” performance in Chelsea FC’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Brazilian attacker has been earning plenty of praise for his strong performances for the Blues in recent weeks and he was once again in fine form at Old Trafford.
Willian led a counter attack and linked up with Eden Hazard before burying the ball past David De Gea at the near post in the 32nd minute.
However, the Blues’ lead was short-lived as Romelu Lukaku netted against his former club in the 39th minute to make it all square heading into half-time.
And Jesse Lingard came off the bench to head the Red Devils into the lead in the 75th minute at Old Trafford to put Jose Mourinho’s men ahead.
Lineker was clearly impressed with what he saw from Willian as he took to social media to praise the attacker for his performance during the game.
The England legend wrote on Twitter: “Superb counter attack by Chelsea, started and finished by the excellent Willian.”
Chelsea FC now have the week off before their crunch clash against Manchester City at The Etihad next weekend.
Antonio Conte will be hoping to steer the Blues to a top-four finish in the Premier League in the Italian manager’s second campaign in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea FC won the Premier League title in Conte’s first campaign at the club last season.
