Ex-striker makes prediction about new Chelsea FC signing
Chris Sutton is tipping Olivier Giroud to develop into a key signing for Chelsea FC this season
Chris Sutton is backing Olivier Giroud to enjoy a very successful career with Chelsea FC.
The striker has been getting used to life at Stamford Bridge after having signed for the Blues from Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Giroud opted to make the move across London after he struggled to hold down a starting spot at The Emirates in the Premier League this season.
The 31-year-old will be hoping to perform well for Chelsea FC between now and the end of the season as he bids to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge and win a place in the France squad for the World Cup in Russia.
Giroud scored his first goal for Chelsea FC in the 4-0 win over Hull City in the FA Cup fifth round on Friday night at Stamford Bridge.
And former Blues striker Sutton feels that Giroud will end up proving to be a quality signing for the west London side.
Speaking to BT Sport, Sutton said: “He’s a link player. He’s got more than just goals. I’m sure he will do well in a Chelsea shirt.”
Chelsea FC are now preparing for their crunch Champions League last 16 clash against FC Barcelona at Stamford Bridge in the first leg in west London.
The Blues are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table.
