Thibaut Courtois has admitted that he does not yet know where his long-term future lies as he continues to be linked with a move away from Chelsea FC.

The Belgian shot-stopper is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in world football, but his situation at Stamford Bridge has been a source of speculation because his current contract at the west London club is due to expire at the end of last season.

Courtois has confirmed that he is indeed in talks with the Blues about the possibility of extending his current deal at Stamford Bridge.

The 25-year-old fuelled talk that he could be set for a move to Real Madrid earlier this month when he admitted that his “heart” is in the Spanish capital because that’s where most of his family are based.

However, the goalkeeper has moved to play down those comments by insisting that he still does not know where his future lies in the long term.

Courtois is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror: “I’m not clear about my future. What I said that my heart is in Madrid was misunderstood.

“I have two children in Spain, in Madrid, and that’s not easy. I have one year left [here] and I’m happy and talking to Chelsea.

“They have bet on me from the first moment and that is not forgotten. I do not think Florentino Perez calls me, he will call my agent and he will listen to him.”

Chelsea FC return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a crunch clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Blues head into the game on the back of their 1-1 draw with FC Barcelona on Wednesday night.
