Chelsea FC and Manchester United are set to do battle for the signature of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski this summer, according to reports in the British media.

Sky Sports is reporting that the two Premier League sides are both keen on luring the 29-year-old attacker to England but their hopes of signing him rest on the player’s ability to persuade Bayern to sell this summer.

The same report says that the Poland captain – who is under contract until 2021 – is keen to leave the Bundesliga club this summer as he seeks a fresh challenge during the prime years of his career.

According to the same article, Lewandowski has hired super-agent Pini Zahavi to negotiate a deal to release him from the Bundesliga champions.

However, the same report says that it will not be easy for the striker to convince the German club to part company with him this summer.

And it is also claimed that Manchester United and Chelsea FC will likely face stiff competition from a host of European clubs for his signature, including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

Manchester United are likely to be on the lookout for reinforcements this summer as Jose Mourinho looks to assemble a squad capable of winning the title next term.

Chelsea FC will also be looking to add to their team, with Alvaro Morata having struggled for form in recent months.
