New Chelsea FC signing sends message to Blues fans about Antonio Conte
Emerson Palmieri is excited to work with Chelsea FC manager Antonio Conte
Emerson Palmieri is confident that Antonio Conte will be able to improve the Chelsea FC signing.
The Blues reached a reported £25m agreement with AS Roma to sign the Brazilian full-back on the penultimate day of the January transfer window.
Palmieri has signed a four-and-a-half year contract with the defending Premier League champions after he became their second January signing on Tuesday evening.
The 23-year-old will be tasked with providing competition for a starting spot with Spanish defender Marcos Alonso in Conte’s team.
The former Bolton Wanderers wing-back has been a revelation in the Premier League since his £17m move to Chelsea from Fiorentina in 2016.
Alonso has scored 12 goals in 55 games in the Premier League over the past 18 months to score more goals than any other defender in the English top flight.
New Chelsea FC signing Palmieri is exited about the prospect of working under former Juventus manager Conte.
“I am definitely going to improve here at Chelsea under Antonio Conte,” Palmieri told Chelsea’s website.
“He is someone who has already shown that he is a great coach and everyone who plays with him improves, so I am coming to Chelsea with this perspective, that I am going to be playing with one of the best coaches in the world and I am going to get better.”
Chelsea FC are in third place in the Premier League table but remain a long way behind runaway leaders Manchester City.
The Blues have also signed England international Ross Barkley and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud in the January transfer window.
The west London side will take on La Liga giants Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16 next month.
