Jamie Carragher admits Chelsea FC can’t compete with Man United in transfer market
The Liverpool FC legend believes Chelsea FC can no longer compete with Manchester City and Manchester United in transfer market
Jamie Carragher believes Chelsea FC can no longer compete with Manchester City and Manchester United in the transfer market.
The Blues signed more players in the January transfer window than their Premier League rivals following three new additions.
Chelsea FC signed England international Ross Barkley in a £15m deal from Everton to improve Antonio Conte’s attacking options.
The Blues signed Brazilian defender Emerson Palmieri in a £23m transfer from Serie A giants AS Roma.
Olivier Giroud completed a £21m move to Chelsea FC from Arsenal on transfer deadline day to add another striker to their ranks.
While the Blues have added more numbers to their squad, Chelsea FC haven’t signed a proven world-class player like Manchester United did in the shape of Alexis Sanchez.
Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher warned Chelsea FC fans that the Blues can no longer compete with their domestic rivals.
“Chelsea as a club are different now and I don’t think they can compete in the transfer market with the Manchester clubs,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“They can’t go head to head for the really top players like they did maybe 10 years ago, when Roman Abramovich first came in.”
Chelsea FC ended a two-game losing run in the Premier League with a 3-0 victory over West Brom at Stamford Bridge last week.
