Chelsea FC are ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich, according to reports in the British media.

The Sun is reporting that the 29-year-old Poland striker is “flirting” with the idea of moving to the Premier League this summer, and both Chelsea FC and Manchester United could be potential destinations.

Lewandowski is widely regarded as one of European football’s top forwards and he has scored 20 goals in 23 Bundesliga games for Bayern Munich so far this term.

The same report claims that Chelsea FC would clearly be the frontrunners to secure the signature of the striker should Bayern opt to let him leave the Bundesliga club in the summer transfer window.

However, the story also suggests that Manchester United would also be interested in a move to sign the forward, and it is even suggested that Liverpool FC would “dearly” love to sign the striker this summer.

So it would seem that Lewandowski could be set to spark a transfer scramble amongst the Premier League’s top clubs this summer should he indeed edge towards a move away from Bayern.

Lewandowski has scored an impressive 29 goals in all competitions for Bayern Munich so far this season.
