Ex-striker makes prediction about Willian in Chelsea FC v FC Barcelona
Chris Sutton makes his prediction about Chelsea FC ahead of their crunch showdown with FC Barcelona
Chris Sutton doesn’t believe that Willian will start for Chelsea FC in their crunch showdown with FC Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Blues head into the game on the back of their impressive FA Cup victory over Hull City on Friday night, as Willian netted twice to fire the west London side to a 4-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.
Willian has been in fine form whenever called upon by Antonio Conte this season but he has still struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge.
Indeed, the Brazil international has only started 13 games in the Premier League for the west London side.
It remains to be seen whether Willian will start on the bench for Chelsea FC when they take on FC Barcelona at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday in the first leg of their last 16 clash.
However, former Chelsea FC striker Sutton feels that Pedro Rodriguez and Hazard are much more likely to start ahead of the Brazilian.
Speaking to BT Sport on Friday night, Sutton said: “I don’t think he [Willian] will start. It will be Pedro Rodriguez and Eden Hazard.
“The centre-forward is an interesting one. I think he has to start Olivier Giroud [ahead of Alvaro Morata]. It was good for Giroud to get off the mark for Chelsea against Hull. Willian was impressive too. It’s a good headache for Conte.”
Chelsea FC will be aiming to go as far as they can in the cup competitions this season, with Conte’s men currently in fourth place in the Premier League table.
