Jamie Carragher slams Tiemoue Bakayoko’s performance in Chelsea FC’s 4-1 loss at Watford
The Liverpool legend slams Tiemoue Bakayoko's disastrous performance in Chelsea FC's 4-1 loss at Watford on Monday night
Jamie Carragher has labelled Tiemoue Bakayoko’s performance in Chelsea FC’s 4-1 loss at Watford as one of the worst performances of the 2017-18 Premier League season.
The France international hasn’t convinced since his move to the defending champions from Ligue 1 title holders AS Monaco in the 2017 summer transfer window.
Bakayoko wasn’t helped by Chelsea FC’s decision to sell defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic in a £40m deal to their title rivals Manchester United back in August.
The 23-year-old’s poor back pass almost allowed Gerard Delofeu to break the deadlock at Vicarage Road to signal that the France midfielder was in for a torrid evening.
Bakayoko picked up a booking in the 25th minute for a reckless challenge on Etienne Capoue after the summer signing lost the ball in possession.
Five minutes later, the former Monaco star picked up his second yellow card for a late challenge on Richarlson to end an abysmal 30-minute performance.
Indeed, Bakayoko gave the ball away four times in a near fatal start to the Premier League game before Troy Deeney’s penalty allowed Watford to break the deadlock and seal a 4-1 win.
Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher slammed Bakayoko’s shocking performance on a humiliating night for Chelsea FC at their derby rivals.
“He was so poor,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“Those 30 minutes were one of the worst performances you’ll see from a player this season.
“He must have lost the ball eight or nine times in that half.”
