Paul Merson states his prediction for Crystal Palace v Tottenham
The Arsenal legend believes Crystal Palace will struggle to leave a dent on Tottenham without Wilfried Zaha
Paul Merson is backing Tottenham Hotspur to ease to a comfortable win over Crystal Palace in Sunday’s early kick-off at Wembley.
Spurs will make the short trip across London to take on Palace at Selhurst Park fresh from surprise 2-2 draw with League One side Rochdale in the FA Cup fifth round last weekend.
Tottenham have been forced to settle for a 2-2 stalemate in their last two games following a credible draw with Juventus in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 earlier this month.
The Lilywhites are unbeaten in their last six games in the Premier League following victories over Arsenal and Manchester United as well as a thrilling 2-2 draw with Liverpool FC at Anfield.
Tottenham are in fifth place in the Premier League table and a point behind Chelsea FC, who occupy the final Champions League qualification spot ahead of the Blues’ trip to Manchester United on Sunday.
Palace will be without Ivory Coast international Wilfried Zaha for the visit of Spurs to leave Roy Hodgson’s side lacking some attacking invention.
Former Arsenal midfielder Merson can’t see past a comfortable Tottenham win at Palace in the Premier League on Sunday.
“I just don’t see how Palace can beat Tottenham without Wilfried Zaha,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“I actually think they’re in trouble, Palace. They’ve had their run, and I think they lost a bit of focus.
“I’m not sure where their next win comes from. They’ve got some really, really tough games coming up in March, and could easily lose their next three games.”
Tottenham have finished in the top four in two of the past three seasons.
