Gary Lineker praised Romelu Lukaku for his brilliant goal in Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday evening.

The Belgium international scored in the Red Devils’ victories over Derby County and Yeovil Town in the previous two rounds.

And Lukaku required less than three minutes to make the breakthrough at their Premier League opponents Huddersfield.

The summer signing exchanged passes with Juan Mata before the 24-year-old striker held off Christophe Schindler and slotted a finish past Jonas Lossl.

Mata had a controversial goal ruled out for offside on the stroke of half-time by the Video Assistant Referee but Lukaku made it 2-0 to ensure their progress to the next round.

Lukaku has now scored 22 times in all competitions this season following his £75m move to Manchester United from Everton last summer.

And Spurs legend Lineker took to Twitter to praise Lukaku for his stylish opener in the FA Cup fifth-round clash.

Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Terrific bit of football from Manchester United, brilliantly finished off by Lukaku.”

Manchester United will take on Spanish side Sevilla in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils have lost two of their last three Premier League games.
