Antonio Conte has confirmed that Tiemoue Bakayoko is likely to miss Chelsea FC’s Champions League showdown against FC Barcelona at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night due to injury.

Bakayoko sat out the Blues’ 4-0 win over Hull City in the FA Cup on Friday night with an injury and Conte seems to think that the French midfielder will not have recovered in time for the Champions League showdown.

The Chelsea FC boss also provided an update on fellow absentee Marcos Alonso, who missed the clash against Hull City as the Blues booked their place in the sixth round of the FA Cup.

Speaking at his post-match news conference on Friday night, Conte said: “Bakayoko I don’t think will be available for the Barcelona game, but Alonso is ready to play.”

Chelsea FC head into their showdown with FC Barcelona looking to produce a memorable performance in front of their home fans in what has been a mixed season for the Blues.

Conte led the west London side to Premier League glory in his first campaign in charge at Stamford Bridge but the Blues have fallen off the pace this term, and currently find themselves fourth in the table.

The Blues will also be gunning for glory in the FA Cup this season, after having reached the final last term but losing to Arsenal at Wembley back in May.
