Gary Lineker raves about Mohamed Salah after Liverpool FC v Tottenham
The Spurs legend singles out Mohamed Salah for special praise after the Liverpool FC forward's 20th Premier League goal
Gary Lineker hailed Mohamed Salah’s impact in the Premier League after the summer signing scored his 20th goal in Liverpool FC’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The Egypt international has been a revelation since his £39m move to Liverpool FC from Serie A giants AS Roma back in July.
Salah’s arrival was met with some skepticisim given his disappointing stint at Chelsea in 2014 before a move to Italy.
However, the 25-year-old wasted no time leaving his mark on the Premier League after Salah raced to 10 Premier League goals in his opening 12 top-flight outings.
Salah has continued to build on his early-season form and the African forward broke the deadlock in the third minute when he capitalised on Eric Dier’s loose pass.
The Egyptian slotted a finish past Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to move to within one goal of Spurs forward Harry Kane at the top of the goal-scoring charts.
However, Victor Wanyama levelled with 10 minutes to play with a sensational finish from outside the area before Harry Kane missed a penalty moments later.
Salah appeared to have punished the Spurs striker with an incredible solo effort before Kane levelled in the fourth minute of added time with a controversial equaliser from the penalty spot.
Former Spurs forward Lineker heaped praise on Salah for his incredible start to life at the Anfield outfit.
Lineker wrote on Twitter: “20 Premier League goals for Salah. What a signing he’s been.”
Salah has reached 20 Premier League goals faster than any other Liverpool FC player, eclipsing Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen, Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez.
