Jurgen Klopp told Liverpool FC losing Emre Can wouldn’t be a blow

Former Irish defender Kenny Cunningham suggests Liverpool FC would be better without Emre Can

Liverpool FC shouldn’t be worried about selling Emre Can in the summer, Kenny Cunningham has claimed.

The Reds could be facing a battle to keep their versatile Germany international at the Merseyside outfit.

Can has less than five months remaining on his current Liverpool FC deal to prompt talk of interest from Juventus.

Indeed, the Serie A champions could sign Can on a free transfer at the end of the Premier League campaign.

The 24-year-old produced a man of the match performance in Liverpool FC’s 3-0 win at Huddersfield Town mid-week.

Can broke the deadlock with a long-range goal before he won a second-half penalty at John Smith’s Stadium.

Former Republic of Ireland defender Cunningham believes Can’s potential departure would in fact be a positive for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

“There’s been a lot of talk of Can allowing his contract to run down at the club [and] maybe leaving,” Cunningham told Irish radio station Newstalk.

“I don’t think it would be a big blow to Liverpool.

“If Emre Can is playing central midfield for Liverpool next season, they have a big problem.”

Liverpool FC signed Can in an £8.75m deal from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in the 2014 summer transfer window.

The German midfielder has scored 13 times in 159 games for Liverpool FC in his three and a half seasons at the Anfield outfit.

Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table but coming under pressure from Tottenham.
