Gary Neville expresses his doubts about Liverpool FC star
The Manchester United legend admits he still has doubts about Liverpool FC goalkeeper Loris Karius
Gary Neville says Loris Karius’ confidence took a hit following his mistake in Liverpool FC’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield last weekend.
Jurgen Klopp has made the decision to stick with Karius as his first-choice goalkeeper at Anfield ahead of Belgium international Simon Mignolet.
The 24-year-old has been given the chance to shine in the Liverpool FC team in the past but Karius has failed to seize his chance to permanently dislodge Mignolet.
However, the former Sunderland man has proven just as inconsistent as his understudy to raise questions about Klopp’s goalkeeping options at Anfield.
The Liverpool FC goalkeeper was harshly criticised for his positioning after Victor Wanyama’s brilliant equaliser cancelled out Mohamed Salah’s opener.
Karius conceded a late penalty on Sunday evening when the Liverpool FC goalkeeper controversially brought down Harry Kane in the penalty area.
The German shot stopper managed to make amends with a brilliant save before the Tottenham goalkeeper beat him from the spot in the fourth minute of added time.
Former Manchester United defender Neville questioned Karius following Liverpool FC’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham.
“The goalkeeper will come out of the game with doubts,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“He has to have.
“He saved a penalty but gave away a penalty. He will have it in his mind that he didn’t have a perfect game.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season to secure a return to the Champions League.
