The Egypt international moved to Liverpool FC in a £39m deal from Serie A giants AS Roma in the summer transfer window.
Salah was one of Serie A’s most creative players during three seasons in the Italian top flight with Fiorentina and then Roma.
The 25-year-old has been a revelation in the Premier League following an impressive return of 22 goals in 26 games in the English top flight this term.
Only Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has scored more goals than Salah in the Premier League this season in the race to secure the golden boot.
In fact, Salah has scored more times than the leading goal-scorers in La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 this term.
Former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker Eto’o labelled Salah as one of the best players in the world following his outstanding start at Anfield.
“He has probably been one of the best players in the world,” Eto’o told The Sun.
“His performances for Liverpool have been great and, for me, I am always glad to see African players at the top level.
“He deserves his award and hopefully he has more years like this.”
Liverpool FC will take on Portuguese giants FC Porto in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash on Wednesday night.
The Reds are in third place in the Premier League table and two points behind Manchester United in the race to secure a top-four spot.
