Greame Souness: What I really admire about Liverpool FC star
The Liverpool FC legend heaps praise on Mohamed Salah following his 21st Premier League goal of the season
Graeme Souness has lavished praise on Liverpool FC forward Mohamed Salah following his riveting performance in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.
Salah scored his 20th Premier League goal of the season inside three minutes at Anfield after the Egypt international latched onto Eric Dier’s loose pass and produced a precise finish past Hugo Lloris.
The African forward restored Liverpool FC’s lead in the 91st minute when Salah managed to evade three Tottenham defenders before he lifted his finish over the Spurs goalkeeper.
Salah moved level on 21 league goals with Harry Kane before the England striker netted a 94th-minute equaliser from the penalty spot at Anfield.
The 25-year-old, who was named the African footballer of the year, is the fastest Liverpool FC player to reach 20 Premier League goals to eclispe Reds legends such as Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen.
Former Liverpool FC captain Souness opened up about his impressions of Salah after the summer signing’s incredible start to life at the Merseyside club.
“There is so much to admire about this,” Souness told Sky Sports.
“His strength, his change of direction and his low centre of gravity. If you look at Salah, he can resist a challenge.
“He looks to have really powerful thighs. He can change direction very quickly.”
Salah has scored 28 times in 33 games in all competitions in the 2017-18 season so far.
Liverpool FC will take on Portuguese giants FC Porto in the Champions League round of 16 next month.
The Reds finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term.
