Frank Lampard: What’s different about Liverpool FC forward Roberto Firmino this season
The Chelsea FC legend is impressed with Roberto Firmino's improved goal record at Liverpool FC this term
Frank Lampard has praised Liverpool FC forward Roberto Firmino for adding goals to his game.
The Brazil international has been in brilliant form in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit this season.
Firmino netted for the 12th time in the Premier League last weekend in Liverpool FC’s 2-0 win at Southampton.
The South American continued his excellent form on Wednesday night with Liverpool FC’s fourth goal in a 5-0 win at Porto.
His effort in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie took his tally to 21 goals in all competitions this term.
While Firmino’s work rate has regularly attracted praise since his move to Liverpool FC, the Brazilian’s goal record has been criticised.
However, former Chelsea FC midfielder Lampard believes Firmino deserves credit for improving his finishing in front of goal this term.
“The one thing that maybe you could have questioned him on was goals, but those numbers are fantastic,” Lampard told BT Sport.
“Not only work rate, not only link-up play, but now [he is] scoring the goals as well.”
Liverpool FC signed Firmino in a £30m deal from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim in the 2015 summer transfer window.
Firmino was signed under Brendan Rodgers but the South American has really flourished under Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds will welcome West Ham United at Anfield in their next Premier League game on Saturday afternoon.
