Charlie Nicholas believes that Roberto Firmino is “not far off” Luis Suarez following his sparkling form for Liverpool FC this season.

Firmino has been in top form for the Reds in recent weeks and he was once again impressive as Liverpool FC claimed a 2-0 victory over Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Brazilian attacking notched up a goal and an assist for Jurgen Klopp’s men as the Reds returned to winning ways in the Premier League and moved up to third place in the table.

Firmino has now scored 12 goals and made six assists in 26 Premier League games for the Merseyside outfit this season.

He will be hoping to carry his form into the Champions League, as the Reds prepare for the first leg of their Champions League last 16 clash against FC Porto on Wednesday night.

And Arsenal legend Nicholas has been hugely impressed by the way Firmino has been performing for the Reds so far this season.

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Nicholas said: “Mohamed Salah has obviously been fantastic but I’m a big fan of Firmino and his work rate, his link up play are different class. He’s not quite Luis Suarez but he’s not far off.”

Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season.

The Reds are yet to win a trophy under Klopp since his appointment back in October 2015.
