Gary Neville points out clear Liverpool FC problem
Gary Neville says Jurgen Klopp will still be concerned about his goalkeeping situation at Liverpool FC
Gary Neville has told Jurgen Klopp that his goalkeeper situation is still spreading uncertainty around his Liverpool FC team.
Klopp has not appeared to have selected a number one shot-stopper at Anfield this season, with the German coach instead opting to rotate between Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet in goal.
Karius couldn’t prevent Liverpool FC from conceding a late equaliser in their 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday afternoon as they suffered a blow to their Champions League qualification hopes.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool could dip into the transfer market in the summer in search of a new goalkeeper.
But former Manchester United defender Neville believes that the Reds’ situation at the back is clearly leading to uncertainty.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: “Karius threw himself out at it, and Jurgen Klopp won’t be settled down by the goalkeeper today, and neither will the goalkeeper.
“It was a penalty for me, it looked reckless, and the chat between the linesman and the referee is something that created nervousness amongst officials.”
Liverpool FC will attempt to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Southampton at St Mary’s in the top flight on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds will face FC Porto in the last 16 of the Champions League later this month as they bid to try and reach the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite club competition.
Liverpool FC are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they chase a top-four finish for the second season running under Jurgen Klopp.
