The Egypt international continued his fine start to life at Anfield on Sunday when he scored the Reds’ second goal in Liverpool FC’s 2-0 victory over Southampton at St Mary’s in the Premier League.
Salah has now scored 22 goals and made seven assists in the Premier League so far this season to help Jurgen Klopp’s men up into third place in the table.
The 25-year-old has earned a reputation as one of the Premier League’s most potent attacking talents since his move from Roma last summer.
And former Liverpool FC star Souness has admitted that he has been somewhat surprised by how well Salah has started life at Anfield.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Sunday, Souness said: “He’s explosive, he’s a dribbler.
“He’s surprised me, I didn’t think he’d get anything like the goals he’s got.
“I remember him as a Chelsea player… did he get a fair crack of the whip there? Maybe not.
“But he’s been sensational this year. He has been the difference in so many games.”
Liverpool FC will return to Champions League action on Wednesday night when they take on FC Porto in the first leg of their last-16 clash in Portugal.
The Reds are also looking to try and finish in the top four this season for the second season running under Jurgen Klopp.
However, the Merseyside outfit are yet to win their first trophy under the German manager.
