Jamie Carragher is not happy with Liverpool FC transfer business
Jamie Carragher reacts to Liverpool FC's transfer business in the January window
Jamie Carragher has insisted that Liverpool FC’s transfer business this month cannot be considered positive because of the sale of Philippe Coutinho.
The Reds were quick to spring into action at the turn of the year as they secured the big-money signing of Netherlands defender Virgil van Dijk from Southampton.
However, Liverpool FC soon also quickly cashed-in on their talismanic Brazilian playmaker as they reluctantly agreed to let him leave Anfield to sign for Barcelona.
The Merseyside outfit were linked with a host of other players during the January transfer window but they ended up not bringing in any more big names.
And former Liverpool FC defender Carragher feels that the window cannot be labelled as positive because of their move to sell Coutinho to Barcelona half-way through the season.
Asked if Liverpool FC can look back at a positive January transfer window, Carragher told Sky Sports: “No [it wasn’t positive].
“If you lose your best player, there is no way you can dress it up as a positive window. Certainly in January.”
Liverpool FC will look to make it back to back wins in the Premier League on Sunday when they host Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield in a crunch top-four clash.
Spurs warmed up for that game with an impressive 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Wembley on Wednesday night.
