Jurgen Klopp raves about ‘outstanding’ Liverpool FC star after Spurs draw
Jurgen Klopp was delighted by Mohamed Salah's performance for Liverpool FC against Tottenham on Sunday
Jurgen Klopp lavished praise on Mohamed Salah following his sparkling performance in Liverpool FC’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Egypt international has been in fine form for the Reds since signing for the Merseyside outfit from Roma in the summer transfer window.
Salah scored both of Liverpool FC’s goals on Sunday but it was not enough to earn the Reds the three points as they conceded a late penalty which Harry Kane duly converted.
Salah has been in brilliant form for the Reds this term and his two goals on Sunday took his tally to 21 for the season in the Premier League.
And despite the disappointment of conceding a late penalty, Klopp admitted that he was thrilled by Salah’s performance for the Reds on Merseyside on Sunday.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, Klopp said: “It was a fantastic goal, an outstanding goal. It was an outstanding performance, [he was] a threat the whole 90 minutes, that’s true.
“So Mo, to go back to your question, he scored both goals [and] the first one was so cool, to get the ball there and with or without a goalkeeper, it makes no difference – that’s how it looked.
“And the second one was outstanding, but it’s really difficult to defend because I think everybody in the stadium, his team-mates included, thought he would play a pass and in the end he did it by himself – that was probably in this moment the best idea.”
Liverpool FC must now dust themselves down as they prepare for their Premier League trip to Southampton next Sunday.
The Reds are currently in the top four as they chase Champions League qualification in Klopp’s second full season in charge at Anfield.
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC will take on FC Porto for a place in the last 16 of the Champions League later this month.
