Jurgen Klopp: What I told Sadio Mane after Liverpool FC win
Jurgen Klopp delights in Sadio Mane's return to form for Liverpool FC after the 5-0 win over Porto
Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he told Sadio Mane that he is “back” after his impressive hat-trick for Liverpool FC in the 5-0 win over Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Senegal international was in brilliant form for the Reds as Klopp’s men ran riot in Portugal to all but confirm their place in the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite club competition.
Mane scored three goals to add to strikes from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah as the Reds enjoyed a memorable night in Europe’s elite club competition.
The 25-year-old has been in solid form for Liverpool FC so far this season, scoring 12 goals and making six assists in all competitions so far.
And Klopp has expressed his delight at how Mane performed for the Reds in their Champions League victory on Wednesday night.
Speaking at his post-match news conference after the game on Wednesday, Klopp said: “He gave the right answer. That’s good.
“I said to him after the last game ‘finally you’re back’ immediately after when we talked on the pitch. Tonight he showed it again what a fantastic player he is.
“He was always important, he was always fantastic for us, even in his not-that-good moments. That’s a real quality if you are not 100 per cent and still scoring, maybe not that often but involved in goals, then that’s really important.
“They will come if you keep on working really hard like he did, then there can be a moment like this.
“The first one was a little bit lucky I think, but then the other two were being in the right place, the second one and using your fantastic skills for the last one. Good, really good, and I am happy about it.”
Liverpool FC now have some time off as they prepare for their next Premier League game – a home clash against West Ham United at Anfield on Saturday 25 February.
The Reds are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they chase Champions league qualification for the second season running under Klopp.
