Sadio Mane: What I think about new Liverpool FC signing
Sadio Mane explains his delight at linking up with his former team-mate Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool FC
Sadio Mane has heaped praise on Virgil van Dijk following the defender’s move to Liverpool FC from Southampton in the January transfer window.
Van Dijk has been getting used to life at Anfield after completing his big-money move to the Merseyside club at the turn of the year.
The defender enjoyed an Anfield debut to remember as he scored the winner in the 2-1 victory over Everton in the FA Cup back in January.
The Netherlands international will now be aiming to hold down a regular place in the first team at Anfield in the coming weeks and months as he bids to help the Reds try and finish in the top four.
And Senegal international Mane has been very impressed by what he has seen from the defender since his move to the Merseyside outfit last month.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Mane said: “He is a great player.
“I know him very well from my time at Southampton. He is a very good addition for us and we are very happy to have him in the team.
“He is doing well. He is strong and technically good. He reads the game well and wants to win every single ball.”
Liverpool FC are currently aiming to finish in the top four this season as they bid to secure Champions League qualification for the second season running under Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds will take on FC Porto in the last 16 of the Champions League later this month as they bid to reach the quarter-finals.
