Steven Gerrard explains why he is is such a big fan of Jordan Henderson at Liverpool FC
Steven Gerrard believes that Jordan Henderson is not as appreciated as he should be amongst Liverpool FC fans.
The Liverpool FC captain has been a regular fixture in the first team this season and has scored one goal and made one assist in 19 Premier League games so far.
The England midfielder splits opinion amongst some Liverpool FC fans but former Reds captain Gerrard has talked up his importance to the Merseyside outfit.
Speaking on BT Sport on Wednesday night, Gerrard said: “I think he splits opinion amongst Liverpool supporters.
“I think I appreciate him a little bit more than most people because I played alongside him and understand the job he does for the team.
“He’s a very unselfish individual and I think he plays like that as well.”
Henderson featured for 75 minutes as Liverpool FC claimed a thumping 5-0 win over FC Porto in the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The result all but booked the Reds’ place in the last 16 of Europe’s elite club competition as they bid to try and go as far as possible in the competition.
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC are currently in third place in the Premier League table, as they look to try and finish in the top four for the second straight season under Jurgen Klopp.
The Merseyside outfit are still searching for their first trophy under Klopp since his appointment at Anfield back in October 2015, when he was brought in as Brendan Rodgers’ permanent successor.
