Steven Gerrard sends clear warning to Liverpool FC squad
Steven Gerrard explains what he thinks Liverpool FC need to improve under Jurgen Klopp this season
Steven Gerrard has warned Liverpool FC that they must eradicate their individual errors at the back if they want to enjoy long-term success under Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds have been in top form in recent weeks and they all but booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday night with an impressive 5-0 victory over FC Porto.
But for all of their attacking prowess, the Reds have struggled to keep clean sheets this season and there is a sense that their defence is not as solid as it should be.
And former Liverpool FC captain Gerrard believes that the Reds’ main problems this season have been caused by individual errors more than collective mistakes.
Speaking to BT Sport on Wednesday night, Gerrard said: “They have to eradicate individual mistakes.
“Liverpool haven’t got results in certain games, even when they’ve played well.
“So if they can eradicate the individual mistakes and find more consistency, I think this Liverpool team will be a force.”
Liverpool FC are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they chase Champions League qualification for the second season running under Klopp.
The Reds, who finished in fourth place last term, will return to Premier League action on Saturday 24 February when they host West Ham United at Anfield.
The Merseyside outfit are still searching for their first trophy since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in October 2015 as Brendan Rodgers’ permanent successor.
