Possible Liverpool FC blow as Roma prepare to hand 25-year-old new contract – report
Roma want to hand Alisson a new contract with a huge release clause to warn off interest from Liverpool FC, according to reports in Italy
Liverpool FC could be dealt a blow in their pursuit of a top goalkeeper as Roma prepare to hand Alisson a new contract, according to reports in Italy.
Calciomercato is reporting that the Serie A club want to give the Brazilian goalkeeper an improved deal to warn off interest from Liverpool FC.
The same article states that the Reds are the first team to have expressed an interest in the shot stopper, while La Liga giants Real Madrid and Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain are also interested.
According to the story, the Italian club want to insert an £80m contract release clause in a potential new contract for the South American goalkeeper.
Alisson has established himself as one of Serie A’s top goalkeepers over the past season following Wojciech Szczesny’s move to Juventus.
The former Internacional goalkeeper has made 22 appearances for the Brazil national team since making his debut in 2015.
Liverpool FC have been linked with a host of goalkeepers in the past few seasons following the inconsistent form of their current shot stoppers Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.
The Reds are in third place in the Premier League table and two points adrift of Manchester United.
