Liverpool FC will have to see off competition from Paris Saint-Germain to sign AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson.

Italian website Calciomercato, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that the Reds are interested in signing the 25-year-old shot stopper from the Serie A giants in the summer transfer window.

The same article states that Liverpool FC consider the Brazilian goalkeeper as a potential candidate to fill the number one spot at the Merseyside club.

However, the story goes on to suggest that Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the AS Roma shot stopper with a view to a summer move.

Alisson has made 43 appearances in all competitions for the Italian club since his move to the Serie A giants from Brazilian club Internacional in 2015.

The 6ft 3ins goalkeeper has also made 22 appearances for the Brazil national team since making his debut on October 2015.

Liverpool FC have struggled to find a worthy replacement for Pepe Reina since the Spain international’s exit in 2013.

Simon Mignolet has struggled for consistency over the past four seasons at Anfield after Jurgen Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers signed the Belgian in a £9m deal.

German shot stopper Loris Karius was brought in from Mainz to provide competition for a first-team spot but the ex-Manchester City youth player has struggled.
