Michael Owen states his prediction for Man United v Huddersfield
The Liverpool FC legend is tipping Manchester United to ease to a comfortable win over Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday afternoon
Michael Owen is backing Manchester United to win to nil against Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils will look to return to winning ways at Old Trafford this weekend to build some much-needed confidence ahead of their Champions League tie at Sevilla.
Manchester United lost 1-0 to Newcastle United at St James’ Park last weekend following Matt Ritchie’s second-half winner.
The 20-time English champions have lost two of their last three games following a 2-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the January.
Manchester United are 16 points adrift of Premier League leaders Manchester City to leave the FA Cup as their best shot at silverware this season.
Former Liverpool FC striker Owen believes Manchester United will make light work of Huddersfield in the fifth round at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
“United have only lost one of their last 13 games against Huddersfield although that was in the Premier League in west Yorkshire earlier in the season when Jose Mourinho’s side were beaten 2-1,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Denis Law scored a hat-trick – against his former club – when the Red Devils last met the Terriers in the FA Cup back in January 1963 and Huddersfield haven’t reached the quarter-finals since the 1971-72 season.
“The FA Cup is Jose Mourinho’s best chance of silverware this season and I expect his side to win in 90 minutes and follow up their recent home league win against the Terriers.”
Manchester United will take on Spanish side in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash at Sevilla on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils are in second place in the Premier League table but two points ahead of Liverpool FC in the race to secure a top-four place.
Manchester United won the Europa League and the League Cup last term.
