Michael Owen is backing Romelu Lukaku to fire Manchester United to a comfortable win against Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.

The Belgium international endured a quiet night on Wednesday night in Manchester United’s 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Wednesday night.

Lukaku has scored 11 goals in 24 games in the Premier League in the current campaign but the Belgian forward has only scored two goals in his last seven top-flight appearances.

However, the 24-year-old has been in decent form in the FA Cup after the summer signing netted against Derby County and Yeovil Town in the opening two rounds.

Huddersfield lost 3-0 to Liverpool FC at John Smith’s Stadium on Tuesday night as the Terriers produced a lacklustre performance in front of their home supporters.

David Wagner’s side were 2-1 winners against Manchester United at home earlier in the season but Huddersfield have lost their last four Premier League games.

Former Liverpool striker Owen is tipping Lukaku to get on the score sheet in a comfortable victory for Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

“I was surprised by the tactics of Huddersfield against Liverpool at the John Smith’s Stadium earlier in the week when they folded far too tamely for my liking,” Owen told BetVictor.

“The Terriers are without a win in their last seven and I cannot see them getting anything at Old Trafford.

“Jose Mourinho will demand a positive reaction following their comprehensive defeat at Wembley on Wednesday – expect Romelu Lukaku to be among the goals against the West Yorkshire outfit.”

Manchester United signed Lukaku in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Everton back in the summer transfer window.

Lukaku scored 25 goals in 36 games in his final season at Goodison Park.
