Jose Mourinho reassured new Man United signing will bring best out of Paul Pogba
Chris Waddle believes Manchester United signing Alexis Sanchez can bring the best out of Paul Pogba
Chris Waddle believes Alexis Sanchez is the type of player that Paul Pogba needs in the Manchester United team.
The Red Devils signed the Chile international in a swap deal with Arsenal during the January transfer window.
Armenia international Henrikh Mkhitaryan completed a move to the Gunners as part of the same transfer arrangement.
The 29-year-old made two assists on his Manchester United debut in a 4-0 win over Yeovil Town in the FA Cup last week.
Sanchez, though, was powerless to prevent the Red Devils from losing 2-0 to Tottenham at Wembley on Wednesday night.
However, the South American’s movement on and off the ball should give Pogba more options.
Former Spurs midfielder Waddle believes Sanchez is the type of player that Pogba will thrive alongside in the Red Devils team.
“Pogba will be thinking this is my type of player,” Waddle told Irish radio station Newstalk. “He will be thinking this is my kind of guy.”
Sanchez opened his Manchester United account from the penalty spot in a 2-0 win against Huddersfield Town at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils won the Europa League and the League Cup in Mourinho’s first season in charge at Old Trafford.
Sanchez won two FA Cup titles at Arsenal but the forward couldn’t inspire the Gunners to title glory.
