David De Gea reacts to Eric Bailly’s comeback in Man United’s 2-0 FA Cup win at Huddersfield
The Manchester United goalkeeper welcomes Eric Bailly back to first-team action in their FA Cup win on Saturday evening
David De Gea hailed the return of Eric Bailly to first-team action after the African defender was a late substitute in Manchester United’s 2-0 win at Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup on Saturday evening.
The Ivory Coast international hasn’t featured for the Red Devils since suffering an ankle injury following a 1-0 loss to defending Premier League champions Chelsea FC back in October.
The Red Devils have struggled without the former Villarreal defender and Jose Mourinho’s side have lost two of their last three Premier League games to cast doubt on their top-four challenge.
However, Bailly replaced Romelu Lukaku in the third minute of added time at John Smith’s Stadium to make his long-awaited return from injury ahead of their Champions League trip to Sevilla on Wednesday night.
Manchester United number one De Gea, who was given the night off for the fifth-round clash, took to Twitter to welcome Bailly back to first-team action following Manchester United’s 2-0 win at Huddersfield.
De Gea wrote on Twitter: “Is back! @ericbailly24 💪🏼🤘🏼”
Lukaku scored either side of half-time to secure a comfortable 2-0 win over Huddersfield and book the Red Devils’ place in the last eight.
Manchester United signed Bailly in a £30m deal from Villarreal in the 2016 summer transfer window.
