Chris Sutton claims Man United star is ignoring Jose Mourinho’s instructions
The Chelsea FC legend believes Paul Pogba isn't following Jose Mourinho's order at Manchester United
Chris Sutton has suggested that Paul Pogba isn’t following Jose Mourinho’s orders at Manchester United.
The France international was humiliating substituted during the Red Devils’ 1-0 loss to Premier League strugglers Newcastle United at St James’ Park last weekend.
Pogba failed to clear the ball and allowed a Newcastle player to have a free header in the lead up to Matt Richie’s second-half winner.
The 24-year-old was taken off in the second half of Manchester United’s 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley last month.
Pogba was captured on camera having a heated debate with Mourinho during the defeat at the north London side.
The Manchester United boss omitted Pogba from his starting line-up for a 2-0 win against Huddersfield Town at Old Trafford earlier this month.
Former Chelsea striker Sutton has suggested that Pogba isn’t carrying out Mourinho’s tactical instructions at Manchester United.
“One thing about Mourinho is [that] he is tactically superb. He must be giving the instructions out,” Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Pogba isn’t doing what is asked, which is the worrying thing if you’re a Man United fan or Mourinho.
“If you spend that sort of money on a player, he should be able to do everything. He is a player that Mourinho rates extremely highly.
“It is easier to be a disciplined midfielder rather than to be the attacking threat. It is easier to defend rather than attack.”
Pogba moved to Manchester United in an £89m deal from Serie A giants Juventus in the 2016 summer transfer window.
The French midfielder is Manchester United’s record signing.
