Ashley Young admits he has been impressed with Romelu Lukaku’s performances at Manchester United this term.

The Red Devils signed the 24-year-old striker in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Everton after seeing off competition from defending champions Chelsea FC.

Lukaku scored 10 times in his opening nine games in all competitions but the Belgium international has struggled to find consistency over the past few months.

The Manchester United striker scored twice in a 2-0 win at Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup fifth round last weekend.

Lukaku is tipped to take part in his first Champions League last-16 clash on Wednesday night when the Red Devils take on La Liga giants Sevilla.

Manchester United defender Young believes Lukaku has contributed a lot to Jose Mourinho’s team throughout the 2017-18 season.

“His hold-up play, his all-round game was fantastic and he’s done that throughout the season,” Young told Manchester United’s website.

“He’s getting goals and to get two was brilliant for him. When you’ve got someone who can hold up the ball like he can, and get in the box, it’s fantastic.”

Lukaku has scored 12 goals and has made five assists in 26 appearances in the Premier League in the current campaign.

The Belgian forward has netted four times in six Champions League outings in the 2017-18 season.

Lukaku has also netted four goals in three games in the FA Cup to help Manchester United reach the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League last term but won the Europa League and the League Cup.
