Frank Lampard reassures Man United supporters about Romelu Lukaku potential
The Chelsea FC legend believes there is much more to come from Romelu Lukaku at Manchester United
Frank Lampard is confident there is more to come from Romelu Lukaku at Manchester United.
The Belgium international moved to the Red Devils in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Everton in the summer transfer window.
Lukaku has scored a credible 20 goals and made four assists in 38 appearances in all competitions in the current campaign.
The 24-year-old has struggled to lead the Manchester United line and bring his other team-mates into the game.
Indeed, Lukaku has attracted criticism for his poor hold-up play in the Red Devils team since his move from Everton.
The Belgian forward was poor in Manchester United’s goalless stalemate with Sevilla in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash on Wednesday night.
Lukaku was part of the Chelsea FC squad between 2011 and 2014 despite being sent out on loan to Everton and West Brom before a permanent switch to Goodison Park in 2014.
Former Cheslea FC midfielder Lampard is backing Lukaku to develop into an even better striker at Old Trafford despite a mixed start at Manchester United.
“He wants to step up,” Lampard told BT Sport. “I was very impressed with his work ethic at Chelsea because he was quite raw at that point.
“He had to up his game and he certainly has done that. I think there’s more to come and that link-up with team-mates is a huge thing.”
Lukaku has scored 12 goals in 26 games in the Premier League in the current campaign.
The Red Devils will take on Chelsea FC in their next Premier League game at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
