Jose Mourinho told Man United will score more goals with 25-year-old
Kevin Kilbane insists Manchester United are a far better team with Paul Pogba in the Red Devils team
Manchester United are a better team when Paul Pogba is in Jose Mourinho’s starting line-up, according to Kevin Kilbane.
The France international has attracted criticism for his performances in recent weeks following Manchester United’s poor run of form.
Pogba was substituted in Manchester United’s losses to Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur on the road.
Mourinho even omitted the 24-year-old from his starting XI for Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town.
Pogba’s ability to shine in a two-man midfielder has been a point of debate, with his failure to carry out his defensive duties resulting in criticism.
Regardless of his defensive attributes, Kilbane is under no illusion that Pogba makes Manchester United a better team going forward.
“When he is Man United’s side, Man United look better from an attacking point of view,” Kilbane told Irish radio station Newstalk. “But it’s not what Mourinho wants.”
Pogba has scored three goals and has made 12 assists in 17 appearances in the Premier League this season.
The Frenchman secured a return to Manchester United in a £89m deal from Serie A giants Juventus in the 2016 summer transfer window.
The Manchester United star won the Europa League and the League Cup at Old Trafford last term.
