Chris Sutton: Man United supporters right to demand more from Paul Pogba
The former Chelsea FC striker believes Paul Pogba has been subdued for Manchester United in recent weeks
Chris Sutton believes Manchester United are right to expect more from Paul Pogba.
The France international has struggled in recent weeks to prompt criticism of the club record signing.
Pogba was replaced in the second half of Manchester United’s 2-0 loss to top-four rivals Tottenham Hotspur last month.
Jose Mourinho left Pogba on the bench for the Red Devils’ 2-0 win against Huddersfield Town at Old Trafford earlier in February.
The 24-year-old was restored to the Manchester United starting line-up for the trip to Newcastle United last weekend.
However, Pogba played a role in Matt Richie’s winner for the hosts to prompt Mourinho to withdraw the midfielder midway through the St James’ Park clash.
Former Chelsea FC striker Sutton believes Manchester United are right to demand more from their record signing.
“When you spend so much money on Pogba, you have to expect more from him,” Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“I have to say that he has been a bit flat recently. He has all the attributes to play in a two in midfield.
“He isn’t at the top of his game. Man United fans would have expected more.”
Pogba moved to Manchester United in a £89m deal from Serie A giants Juventus in the 2016 summer transfer window.
The France midfielder won the Europa League and the League Cup in his first season back at Old Trafford.
