Jamie Redknapp: Paul Pogba has lost his way at Man United
The Liverpool FC legend says Paul Pogba needs to desperately find his form at Manchester United
Jamie Redknapp believes Paul Pogba has lost his way at Manchester United in recent months.
The France international was substituted in the second half of Manchester United’s 1-0 loss at Newcastle United last weekend.
Pogba was criticised for his role in Matt Ritchie’s winner for Newcastle before the club record signing was substituted minutes after the goal.
The 24-year-old was caught on camera having a heated debate with manager Jose Mourinho during a 2-0 loss at Tottenham at the end of January.
Mourinho omitted Pogba from his starting line-up for Manchester United’s 2-0 win against Huddersfield Town in their next game following their Wembley humiliation.
The £89m signing made a brilliant start to the season with two goals and two assists in his opening four Premier League games before a knee problem sidelined the midfielder for two months.
Pogba has struggled to rekindle his early-season form since his return to the Manchester United team to prompt speculation surrounding his future at Old Trafford.
Former Liverpool FC captain Redknapp believes Pogba needs to quickly rediscover his verve after some poor performances.
“He is a player who divides opinion but I think he is a great player,” Redknapp told The Debate on Sky Sports.
“He has lost his way at the moment. He is having a bad time. He needs to get out of it quickly himself.”
Manchester United re-signed Pogba in an £800,000 deal from Serie A giants Juventus in the 2016 summer transfer window following Mourinho’s appointment as manager.
