Pat Nevin: What Paul Pogba needs to prove to Man United supporters
The Chelsea legend wants Paul Pogba to prove to Manchester United supporters that he has the heart for every game
Paul Pogba need to prove that he has the heart for every Manchester United game, Pat Nevin has claimed.
The France international has been criticised in recent weeks for a series of poor performance in the middle of the park.
Pogba has struggled as part of a midfield duo alongside Serbia international Nemanja Matic.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho replaced Pogba during a 2-0 loss at Tottenham Hotspur following a heated debate between the pair at Wembley.
The Red Devils record signing started on the bench in a 2-0 win against Huddersfield Town at Old Trafford earlier this month.
Mourinho restored Pogba to his starting line-up for the trip to Newcastle but the 24-year-old was poor in a 1-0 loss at St James’ Park.
Indeed, the former Juventus midfielder was guilty of poor marking in the lead up to Matt Richie’s second-half winner.
Former Chelsea FC winger Nevin believes Pogba needs to show his unwavering commitment to Manchester United on the pitch.
“He has everything,” Nevin told Irish radio station Newstalk.
“He needs to have the heart for every game. He could walk out next week and dominate absolutely anyone. He needs to fight it first.
“People are getting in and amongst him and making it hard for him. He is not enjoying it.”
Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table but a mere two points clear of third-placed Liverpool FC.
