Mark Lawrenson is backing both Manchester United and Chelsea FC to finish in the top four this season.

The Red Devils are currently in second place in the Premier League table as they chase Champions League qualification in Jose Mourinho’s second season in charge at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are 13 points behind leaders Manchester City in the race for the title and it would seem that they will not be able to catch their bitter local rivals before the season is out.

Chelsea FC, meanwhile, are aiming to get their campaign back on track and are currently fourth in the table after losing their last two Premier League games.

Liverpool FC are third as the race for Champions League qualification hots up.

And Liverpool FC legend Lawrenson is fully expecting to see both Chelsea FC and Manchester United finish in the top four this season.

Lawrenson is quoted as saying by the Daily Star: “So the first one’s easy – Man City.

“I’m going Man City, Man United, Chelsea, Liverpool.”

Manchester United return to Premier League action on Sunday when they take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

Chelsea FC, meanwhile, will aim to get back to winning ways in front of their home fans when they host West Brom on Monday night at Stamford Bridge.
