Jose Mourinho has told Manchester United fans that he is hoping that Eric Bailly will be back available for Manchester United this month.

The Ivory Coast defender has been struggling with an ankle injury in recent weeks and he had to undergo surgery to try and correct the problem.

However, the centre-half is now approaching the end of his rehabilitation and Mourinho is hoping that he may be able to return by the end of the month, along with fellow long-term absentee Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Speaking at his news conference at Carrington ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Huddersfield Town on Saturday, Mourinho said: “They are working on the pitch but not yet with us as a group so they are not very close to a return.

“But I want to believe that by Champions League time, around the end of the month, they will be back.”

The 23-year-old Ivory Coast defender will be hoping to get back fit as quickly as possible as he bids to try and help Manchester United enjoy a successful end to the season.

The defender has scored one goal in eight Premier League games for Manchester United so far this season.

The Red Devils will return to Premier League action on Sunday next week with a trip to Newcastle United.

Mourinho will be hoping to have both Bailly and Ibrahimovic available for Manchester United’s Champions League clash with Spanish side Sevilla later this month in the last 16.
