Jose Mourinho will refuse to let Man United star leave this summer
Jose Mourinho says Manchester United have no intention of letting David De Gea leave the club this summer
Jose Mourinho has said that Manchester United have no intention of letting David De Gea leave Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.
The Spanish goalkeeper is widely regarded as one of the best shot-stoppers in the Premier League and he has been earning plenty of praise for his performances so far this season.
De Gea has long been linked with a potential transfer to Real Madrid in the last few seasons and that link seems as if it is not going away any time soon.
Indeed, the shot-stopper was on the verge of signing for the Spanish giants in September 2015 before the move fell through at the final hour.
And Manchester United manager Mourinho has now underlined his intention not to let De Gea leave the Old Trafford club in the summer transfer window because he is one of their best players.
Speaking at a news conference at Carrington on Friday last week, Mourinho said: “Do you think a club that is trying to attract the best players is a club that is open to lose their best players?
“It makes no sense. We have to attract the best players like we did with Alexis (Sanchez), (Nemanja) Matic, (Paul) Pogba and so on. So we don’t let our best players go.”
Manchester United are now preparing for their FA Cup fifth-round clash against Huddersfield Town on Saturday evening.
The Red Devils are currently in second place in the Premier League table as they bid to get as close to Manchester City as possible in the top flight.
