Man United to battle Man City to sign quality 24-year-old – report
Man United are set to battle with Man City for the signature of Harry Maguire this summer, say reports
Manchester United are set for a battle with local rivals Manchester City for the signature of Harry Maguire this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Red Devils have joined the Citizens in the race to sign the defender as Jose Mourinho looks to try and bolster his defensive options at Old Trafford.
The same report says that Manchester United are not planning on signing any more attacking players in the summer after completing a deal to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal last month.
And it seems that the Red Devils could be poised for a transfer battle with Manchester City for the signature of 24-year-old Leicester City defender Maguire.
The same story says that Mourinho has been “impressed” by the £50m-rated Maguire and that the Red Devils could be set for a transfer tussle for the defender in the coming months.
The defender has been in impressive form for Leicester City so far this season, scoring two goals and making four assists in 26 Premier League games for the Foxes.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently preparing for their Premier League trip to Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon as they look to try and keep pace with Manchester City in the table.
