Rio Ferdinand: What I really think about new Man United signing
Rio Ferdinand admits he is excited about what Alexis Sanchez will bring to Man United following his move to Old Trafford
Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he is excited about what Alexis Sanchez will bring to Manchester United following his transfer from Arsenal.
The Chile international became the Red Devils’ only signing of the January transfer window as he joined the Old Trafford club from Arsenal last week.
The 29-year-old has already made two appearances for his new club but endured a Premier League debut to forget when the Red Devils were comprehensively beaten 2-0 by Tottenham at Wembley on Wednesday night.
Manchester United fans will be hoping to see Sanchez propel the Red Devils to the next level as they look to progress in the Champions League this season.
And former Manchester United defender Ferdinand has revealed his delight at seeing the Red Devils wrap up a deal for such a talented player.
Speaking to BT Sport on Wednesday night, ex-England and Red Devils star Ferdinand said: “He’ll have been loving getting his hands on the number seven shirt.
“He’ll have been made fully aware about that responsibility is as a Man United player.
“But he’s used to pressure. He thrives on that. Man United, as a changing room, I’m sure has been lifted this week.”
Sanchez will be aiming to help Manchester United return to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Huddersfield Town in front of their home fans at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Wednesday’s loss left them in second place and 15 points behind leaders Manchester City in the table.
