The Red Devils signed the Chile international in a swap deal in the January transfer window that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan complete a move to Arsenal.
Sanchez made two assists on his Red Devils debut in Manchester United’s 4-0 victory over League Two side Yeovil Town in the FA Cup fourth round last week.
However, the South American was powerless to prevent Jose Mourinho’s side from succumbing to a disappointing 2-0 loss to top-six rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Wednesday night.
Sanchez scored 24 goals in 38 games in the Premier League last term to finish as the division’s third highest goal-scorer behind Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku.
Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand is confident that Sanchez will add another dimension to the Red Devils team.
“This guy can make something out of nothing,” Ferdinand told BT Sport Premier League Tonight on Wednesday night.
“His confidence levels are very high and it’s his decision making in the final third that sets him apart. He can do things at pace, he can slow the game, done and he’s explosive.
“This guy adds genuine quality to the attack.”
Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table but only five points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham in the race to qualify for the Champions League.
The Red Devils will take on La Liga giants Sevilla in the Champions League round of 16 next month.
Manchester United have signed eight players under Jose Mourinho following the Portuguese coach’s appointment as their new manager back in May 2016.
